Boobs for Breast Cancer

Tassie Boobs are special handmade breast prostheses for women who have had breast cancer and undergone mastectomy or lumpectomy. Traditional breast prosthetics can be hot, heavy and sticky. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can’t be worn for weeks after surgery. Tassie Boobs are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are adjustable, washable and can even be worn while swimming. Our special volunteer knitters provide these FREE to those requesting them.

Our project is also looking at how we can support all women who are undergoing treatment for cancer.

The prosthesis

These prosthesis can be worn straight after mastectomy, and are soft,  lightweight and machine washable.

The patterns

Knockers are needed in all sizes and colors so have fun making the Knockers of your choice. By far the most requested are neutral colors though and matching pairs are greatly needed.

Please note that only Boobs made from these approved patterns, kindly provided for free by Knitted Knockers USA, will be accepted. Please see below for our suggested list of yarns.

Knitted Knockers USA offers many approved patterns that we have found to result in wonderful soft, contoured Boobs. There are also instructional videos, and resources on their webpage.

Suggested yarns

Our first choice, and probably the most cost effective choice, is Bendigo woolen mills cotton

But you can use any of these yarns approved by KK USA

Other yarns may be suitable, but these are the tested choices.

Sending prothesis around Tasmania is expensive - the minimum cost is $10. We do our best to hand deliver when possible,, but sometimes we have to send them to remote locations. Make a tax deductible donation here
